PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED TAX RATE WHICH WILL INCREASE TOTAL TAX REVENUES
FROM PROPERTIES ON THE TAX ROLL IN THE PRECEDING TAX YEAR BY 0.245499%:
OPEN PUBLIC HEARING: 10:00 A.M.
There were no comments from the public at this time.
CLOSED PUBLIC HEARING: 10:00 A.M.
Judge Davenport: There are several advantages to the new tax rate notice provisions in Section
140,010. First, it provides more understandable information for the taxpayers. Second, the county is no
longer required to meet the publication provisions in Section 26.04(e) (the unintelligible explanation of
effective tax rate and rollback rate) and Section 26.06 (the multiple notices and waiting periods between
tax rate hearings and adoption) Use the form provided by the Comptroller. If the Commissioners Court
intends to consider a tax rate above the effective tax rate, schedule two hearings. The Commissioners
Court is no longer required to wait three days between the hearings and the budget and tax rate may be
adopted immediately following the second hearinghat
exceeds the effective tax rate must stir contain the tax increase ianiguage from Section 26.05(b)Jim
