Thereupon the following proceedings were had:
Commissioner Galvan gave the Invocation and Commissioner
Finster led the Pledge of Allegiance.
TAX RATE SET
A Motion was made by Judge Marshall and seconded by
Commissioner Finster to leave the Tax Rate as filed with
the County Budget. Commissioners Galvan, Balajka, Finster
and Judge Marshall ~ll voted in favor.
SET DATE. TIME AND PLACE FOR PUBLIC HEARING ON 2003 BUDGET
AND FOR SETTING TAX RATES AND LEVYING AND ASSESSING TAXES
A Motion was made by Commissioner Finster and seconded by
Commissioner Galvan to adopt the Order Setting Date, Time
and Place for Public Hearing on 2003 County Budget and for
Setting Tax Rates and Levying and Assessing Taxes;
September l6, 2002 at lO:OO A.M. on the Budget and
September 26, 2002 at lO:OO A.M. on Setting Tax Rates and
Levying and Assessing Taxes. Commissioners Galvan,
Balajka, Finster and Judge Marshall all voted in favor.
ORDER SETTING DATE, TIME AND PLACE FOR PUBLIC HEARINGS ON
2003 COUNTY BUDGETS AND FOR SETTING TAX RATES AND LEVYING
AND ASSESSING TAXES
WHEREAS, the Calhoun County Commissioners' Court of Calhoun County, Texas
met on September 6, 2003, (Special Meeting of Commissioners' Court),
and
WHEREAS, one of the items on the agenda was to set the date, time and place for a
public hearing on the 2003 County budgets, and also for setting tax rates
and levying and assessing taxes,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE COMMISSIONERS'
COURT OF CALHOUN COUNTY, TEXAS, that a public hearing
will be held on September 26, 2002, at 10:00 a,m, in the
Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Port Lavaca, Texas,
on the 2003 County budgets, Following the hearing, a budget for 2003
will be adopted,
IT IS ALSO ORDERED BY THE COMMISSIONERS' COURT OF
CALHOUN COUNTY, TEXAS, that a public hearing will be held on
September 16, 2002 at 10:00 a,m, in the Commissioners' Courtroom in
the Courthouse in Port Lavaca, Texas, on the matter of setting tax rates
and levying and assessing taxes,

RESOLUTION ON SEPTEMBER 11 COMMEMORATION
A Mo~io~ was made ,by Commissioner Galvan and seconded by
COIDrrQSS10ner BalaJka to adopt the Resolution on September
II Commemoration. Commissioners Galvan, Balajka, Finster
and Judge Marshall all voted in favor.

RESOLUTION ON SEPTEMBER 11 COMMEMORATION
WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, America was suddenly and brutally
attacked by foreign terrorists, and
e
WHEREAS, these terrorists hijacked and destroyed four civilian aircraft,
crashing two of them into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a
third into the Pentagon outside Washington, DC, and the fourth into a field in Somerset
County, Pennsylvania, and
WHEREAS, thousands of innocent Americans were killed and injured as a result
of these attacks, including the passengers and crew of the four aircraft, workers in the
World Trade Center and in the Pentagon, rescue workers, and bystanders, and
WHEREAS, these cowardly acts were by far the deadliest terrorist attacks ever
launched against the United States, and, by targeting symbols of American strength and
success, clearly were intended to intimidate our nation and weaken its resolve, and
WHEREAS, these horrific events have affected all Americans, It is important
that we carry on with the regular activities of our lives, Terrorism cannot be allowed to
break the spirit of the American people, and the best way to show these cowards that they
have truly failed is for the people of the United States and their counties to stand tall and
proud,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Calhoun County Commissioners'
Court condemns the cowardly and deadly actions of these terrorists, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Calhoun County Commissioners' Court
supports the President of the United States, as he works with his national security team to
defend against additional attacks, and find the perpetrators to bring them to justice, and
BE IT STILL FURTHER RESOLVED, that Calhoun County Commissioners'
Court recommends to its citizens to support relief efforts by giving blood at the nearest
available blood donation center,

ORDER ADOPTING 2003 ROAD AND BRIDGE FEES
A Motion was made by Commissioner Galvan and seconded by
Commissioner Finster to raise the Road and Bridge fees for
Year 2003 from $5.00 to $8.00. Commissioners Galvan,
Balajka, Finster and Judge Marshall all voted in favor.

Calhoun County shall impose a new County Road and Bridge fee of
$8,00 for the calendar year of 2003.
