The Court:, being In open session, in compliance with the pertinent proVisions of Section 551 of the Vernon's Texas Code Annotated, Government Code, Sub-chapter D, Section 551.074 authorizes a dosed meeting to discuss potential property requirements and availability for oonstruction of a new jail. The County Judge, as preslcIing officer, publldy announced at 10:15 a.m. that a closed session would now be held. The County Judge further publicly announced that before any final action, decision or vote is made regarding the subject matter of the dosed session, the meeting wUl be reopened to the public. Commissioner Balajka asked Mr. MaIchaiI how much money the hospital had in reserve. Buzz Cunier, Hospital AdmInlstrator, stated that It should not be called reserve but an operating fund. He stated that Hurricane n... uiA.... CXlSt the hospital $200,000 and that It was a mUd hurricane, with too many bumps In the road Wee this It would dissipate the few dollars tI1at are setting In the operating fund. Mr. CurrIer also stated that we do well for our size hospital; we have no more than we need to operate on short tenn. It cost $50,000 a day to operate the hospital whether or not patients are In house. Buzz stated that year to date we are stlU ahead but not by SO much to talk about reserves.
